CCTV Headquarters
CCTV headquarters building is located in the central business district of Beijing, including CCTV headquarters building, TV culture center, service building, celebration square. The design was led by Dutch Rem Koolhaas and German Ole Scheren for the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). The CCTV headquarters building has an avant-garde architectural appearance and was selected by Time as one of the top ten architectural wonders of the world in 2007, alongside the contemporary Beijing City of Nations and the National Stadium. CCTV headquarters building from the original project budget of 5 billion, all the way to nearly 20 billion. And paid the designer, the Office of Metropolitan Architecture, up to 350 million yuan design fees, an average of 630 yuan per square meter. The north wing of the building was severely destroyed in the Lantern Festival fire on February 9, 2009.
The restoration work began at the end of October 2009, and after completion, it has been successfully accepted. On June 5, 2012, CCTV Sports Channel was the first to move to the new station office in the East Third Ring Road, and broadcast the London Olympic Games in the new station. The new CCTV building won the top award – the world’s Best tall building award. In April 2014, the Evaluation Committee of China’s Top Ten contemporary Buildings evaluated 20 buildings from more than 1,000 landmark buildings in China, integrating four indicators of age, scale, artistry and influence. The result is ten contemporary buildings. The CCTV headquarters building is one of the shortlisted buildings.
The fourth and fifth floors of the building contain the hotel lobby, restaurants, shops, swimming pools and other public activities. The north and south sides of the upper lobby are surrounded by a 300-room atrium, and the top of the main building is the hotel’s restaurant.
The United States “Time” magazine selected the world’s top ten architectural wonders in 2007, and the CCTV headquarters building was listed among them. American Private Geography magazine recently launched the “2012 most popular readers.”
